Firstly I would like to thank Geoff Woods for his time and commitment to the Kaywanna Board Scheme for the last 20 years plus. I think as rate payers we don’t appreciate people like Geoff enough for their dedication and hours that have been put in over that time. Even though I have been an existing board member it wasn’t until writing this report that I realised how long Geoff had been in the Chairman’s role. As a small gesture of thanks we as the board took Geoff out to lunch after the 2024 AGM. Thanks again Geoff - your boots in this role will be impossible to fill and a difficult one to follow.
I would like to thank Alice, Kayla, John, Dale and Joanne for fulfilling their roles on the board for 24/25 year. Thank you to our exiting board member Joanne Bigg for her contribution to the board. As this was a year for election of board members we would like to welcome two new members in Sasha Crawley and George Clark and thank them for willingly putting up their hands to help manage the Kayawanna bore scheme going forward. I would also like to welcome back Alice, Kayla, John and Dale for another 3 years on the board.
For the age of the scheme it was a reasonably trouble free 24/25 year. In October 2024 Dave Woods contacted to say they had reburied the bore line on the property Denver where it had become exposed due to years of soil erosion. They used the board schemes excavator to complete the task.
4th January 2025 the SIM card was renewed again for the Kalala pump station alarm system for another 12 months. It is in Geoff Woods personal name and is required to be renewed annually.
On the 10th of January 2025 Geoff Woods replaced a manifold pressure gauge and flush tap at Boogera. The filter and check values were also cleaned. On the same day he replaced a new alarm battery at the main bore. Geoff mowed around the main bore.
In February there was a leak at a double air value on Eaglebar. This had been leaking for some time. This was repaired by John and Clem Allen.
In March 2025 the main bore alarm was not working on inspection the phone had been off the hook for some weeks. This was taped in place and has been working well since.
In April we were having water supply issues at Kyawanna bore point GA1 on investigation it was discovered that the restrictor had been removed at Kioma’s point K1 and left out. John Allen and Myself made contact with Ewen Beeton in regards to the removed restrictor. Apologies from Ewen were made that he had removed it, when they had had a failure with the K1 tank. It was temporarily removed to supply stock with water. As this was out for an extended period of time it affected the water supply to GA1 at Kyawanna. Since that conversation the restrictor has been returned and the supply point turned off until they have time to replace the supply tank.
In May I was contacted by Richard Golden that they were still going ahead with the changes at Boxyards and would give the board notice prior to commencing the works so someone could be available to inspect. I was also contacted by Ewen Beeton as the dozer contractor had hit the main line at Kalala while clearing the fence line. All was repaired by dozer contractor and no parts required.
All the Best for the year ahead.
